Team

The team is China's sole developer of mature, mass-producible cosmic-ray muon imaging systems with complete forward/inverse algorithms, achieving global competitiveness. Pioneering the nation's first mass-producible plastic scintillator imagers (LUMIS and CORMIS), these systems have enabled deep internal imaging of large structures, with successful applications in Xi'an infrastructure inspection and Zaozigou gold mine exploration. Current R&D focuses on low-cost borehole-type 3D muon imaging. Over five years, the team has secured 10 provincial/ministerial projects, obtained 7 patents, earned 9 awards, and published 60+ high-impact papers.

1.team leader

Liu Zhiyi, a national high-level talent, vice president of the National Nuclear Industry Research Institute at Lanzhou University, second level professor, doctoral supervisor, selected as the first level leading talent in Gansu Province, winner of the Dunhuang Prize in Gansu Province, and expert in the field of nuclear technology. I have served as a postdoctoral fellow, researcher, and project manager at the Canadian National Laboratory for nearly ten years. I also hold the positions of visiting researcher at the China Institute of Atomic Energy and technical expert consultant at the China Institute of Technology for the Transformation of Invention Achievements. PhD in Physics from Simon Fraser University in Canada in 2009. Professor Liu Zhiyi, as a core member of the technical team, has participated in multiple large-scale national and international cooperation projects. From conceptual design and Monte Carlo simulation to the design, construction, calibration, and commercialization of complex nuclear technology instrument systems, we have been deeply involved and have produced a number of groundbreaking research results with international standards. As a core team member of the D0 project at Fermi National Laboratory in the United States, we utilized big data mining techniques to discover the existence of a single top quark for the first time in the world. During my time at TRIUMF, I was deeply involved in the CRM customs security application project CRIPT led by TRIUMF, and pioneered the application of this technology to mineral exploration worldwide (Muon Geotomography). He has led the development of multifunctional pulse fast neutron imaging technology and high-precision residual oil evaluation technology, which have gradually been introduced into various oil fields for service and deployment. Professor Liu Zhiyi is also engaged in research and development related to accelerator based medical isotope production.
